iPod-friendly Onkyo wireless HiFi bookshelf stereo
Monday, June 19, 2006

For all you haters out there that say that iPod speaker systems are typically underpowered with barely enough thump to fill a closet, high end stereo equipment maker Onkyo has got a HiFi solution for you. The CR-D1 wireless bookshelf system features a Digital amp that'll pump out 60W x 2, and comes complete with a Wolfson DAC, FM tuner, and integrated CD player.

To get your glossy white player into the mix, you'll have to pony up for the DS-A1 iPod dock option (available worldwide), but when you do, you'll be able to control your tunes using the supplied remote. Other expansion possibilities include 1 x optical, 3 x RCA, and a stereo mini-jack for input. The wireless D-D1E 2-way speakers pack plenty of juice, so no worries about being underpowered here.

Coming from a high end brand like Onkyo, you have to expect an appropriate high-end price to accompany. The full system will run you close to a g-note ($907), but you'd have to head over to the land of the rising sun to pick one up with it starts shipping July 15th.
